Eleven Madison Park Launches Food Truck for New Yorkers in Need

This spring sees a shiny new four-wheel venture take to the streets of New York, as chef Daniel Humm and Eleven Madison Park feed New Yorkers in need with a custom-made truck, in partnership with Rethink Food.

The news comes at the end of a difficult and at times “unbearable” year, as Humm calls it, but one where the opportunity to feed local communities in need had been a “gift”. The Eleven Madison Truck will offer a mobile extension of the restaurant’s community kitchen, distributing meals made with the same produce and ingredients used on-site at the restaurant.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Humm said: “I am so proud to announce Eleven Madison Truck. Every week, our kitchen staff will prepare thousands of meals and deliver them to our neighbors in New York experiencing food insecurity as part of our collaboration with @rethinkfood and its network of community-based organizations.”

Humm co-founded the not-for-profit venture to transport and serve up to 2,000 nutritious meals weekly in various New York neighbourhoods, including food-insecure districts in the Bronx and Brooklyn.

Eleven Madison Park will donate ten meals through Eleven Madison Truck for every meal purchased through EMP at Home, the restaurant’s current menu pick-up-only programme.

Once the restaurant reopens for indoor dining later in 2021, the truck will be supplemented with additional donations for every guest served.
